More faces of Aubrie

Kim and Aubrie in Maine

Not gonna lie, we’re doing a little multitasking. This photo dump serves two purposes: Jamie needs to make room on her phone for the iOS update that came out in early Spring 2025 and we thought it was time for a “Faces of Aubrie” update since we promised we’d update our first blog.  That was eight years ago. And a lot can happen in eight years!

For example, Aubrie recently got her real estate agent’s license! People across the northeast are now seeing a version of these faces when they’re looking for a new home. Hopefully she’s just showing her professional side rather than some of these comical mugs, but we trust her judgement. This girl has always known her audience. Too bad Jamie isn’t always as tactful.

Her hair looked so great, I just had to touch it! (At my own risk.)

Chinese shenanigans

We – Kim, Jamie and Aubrie – left the US for China shortly after the initial “Faces” post. While we were together abroad, we rode the subway like locals and prepared for harsh winters. (Fortunately, this picture was taken in Shenzhen, in southern China, where the climate is quite tropical. It was always too hot for a coat.)

Not sure why this coat is for sale in Shenzhen. It was always soooo hot there.

Eight years later

If you need quality accommodation in Rockland, Maine, we know a girl.

Aubrie left China after a year to return to the homeland, where she graduated high school and eventually began a hospitality career at the Hampton Inn in Rockland, Maine. Over her time at the hotel, she’s worked her way up to a managerial position. I do remember her bossing me around a time or two. In all seriousness, she excels at everything she tries so she is probably an excellent manager.

Tay and Aubs in an apple orchard.

Being back on US soil also gave her the chance to reconnect with her big sister, Tayler. They got to hang out and do things we all did together, like apple picking and the subsequent apple crumble/apple pie baking.

Aubrie and Kyle, all dressed up for Halloween one year.

She also met a dude named Kyle. Sometimes they have the privilege/punishment of hosting us when we are in their neck of the woods in Maine. We’ve spent lots of time in the summer there, bumming around in their Jeep and using the gym at the hotel when the manager isn’t looking.

MVPs baybeeee!

She joined my old co-ed summer softball team and even snuck me on the roster one summer when I visited. We had a great time at all the games, even if we didn’t win.

She still has her mom’s traveling spirit

Look at that regal thing! Oh, there’s a mosque in the picture too.

When we lived in Istanbul two years ago, we got a chance to host Aubrie and Kyle for a change! We adventured around and thoroughly enjoyed each others’ company. We whisked them away to all the beautiful mosques, street markets and restaurants we could think of.

A lot can happen in eight years!

We can’t wait to see what happens in the next eight, 16, 24, 32… you can see where we’re going with this. Aubrie’s always had positive energy and a great personality. Sometimes you know what she’s thinking just by reading her face, which could be problematic based on the situation.

Good thing there’s room on Jamie’s phone for more pictures now. Let the memories unfold!
